The new version of PS3!
Posted by Jake, 73 days ago Jun 25, 2008 15:15

Sony’s in the zone with the new PS3 they are delivering to users. But what exactly have they changed? With blueray, great video games, and of course the great name of Playstation what else do they need to change? What sony has in store for us is the 120-160 gig version. This will make the system more compatable for blueray and PS2 games. This is quite the update and it is going to be packaged with one of the greatest games for the system.

Metal Gear Solid 4 (formally known as MGS4) will be in the bundle for this system. It’s supposed to increase the sales rate and game purchases but they may have made a mistake to current PS3 owners...

What if a PS3 owner wants to upgrade their PS3. They need to buy a new hard-drive which it is still unclear how much the 160 gig will cost. This is why it may be a mistake if you are a current PS3 owner, should of kept that cash and spent it on the new version. Also, for people who have a PS3 they have probably already bought MGS4, so far they have only announced this as a bundle but they will most likely sell it seperately from the game.. we hope.

In my opinion, this is a bit too little and too late to boost the PS3 sales figure. While it is a more powerful and refined console, it was out of the ate too late with no developers and no decent releases.

And another thing - 160 gigabytes is too little. The PS3 takes 2.5 SATA drives, so why buy a sony drive when you could get a 2.5 inch drive from a renowned hard drive manufacturer for less cost and still get greater capacity?

Yeah I agree dark energy, with all the extras they are adding 160 is too little but still, they’re constantly trying to create the most affordable deals for the customers and it was already up to 500-600.

Then again, I’m not really sure about the PS3’s physical qualities. I believe the hard-drive is like the Xbox 360 where you can remove/replace it, so if they keep creating new hard-drives with more storage it could be upgrading without buying a new system.

In order to upgrade the Xbox 360 hardrive, you have to buy a harddrive made by Microsoft, that is unique to the Xbox 360. For Playstation 3 you can use any Laptop 3.5" hardrive.
